Messrs.’ Gutelius, Stone and Varner, have invoked an irreverent tone in their interesting tome of the southernmost (almost?) place in the continental US. True Secrets is a light enjoyable read.My hope was to gain some insight on a soon-to-be travel destination. I perceive their tone matches the tenor of the town although after reading I might suggest this is a collection of factoids as opposed to secrets. As with all humor I did not find every drum-roll-less one-liner to bring a chortle but overall there were plenty of seemingly appropriate tongue in cheek vignettes.
True Secrets contains a lot of fact presented in an interesting manner. Herodotus will not be shaking in his sandals worried that the trio will take his place in the telling of history. There is (assumed) to be enough contained truth for me to have some understanding of why my friends who have visited describe it as the most unique place they have ever been.
I look forward to making my personal comparison armed with their knowledge. Only time will tell if the author’s flippancy follows the form of Key West. I’ll update this upon return.

Another fun look at wonderful Key West. What a great place and good stories all around. Who can ever get tired of learning more about this great place at the end of the road?
A good question and answer book however it could have been funnier as promised. It did answer questions that I had wondered about. If going to key west read before you go.
Terrific book...wish I had known about and read this book BEFORE our trip! Such interesting background information especially for a first time visit. I will surely review parts of the book before our next Key West trip.
Once you start reading this book.You will enjoy it. It's entertaining,factual.And it will challenge you in places , that part was a joke or not.There was a lot going on the Key West past. Easy to read.
A fun little book with some very interesting bits and pieces of trivia and information. I had a good time reading it and learned some fun facts about Key West.
I visited Key West over Thanksgiving break and this book made the trip even better. Some of the facts were mentioned during tours, etc. but having read the book made me notice more. Most of the humor is amusing. Definitely worth the small cost.
Not as informative as I expected since I got the book to help plan where to stay and what to do since never been to Key West area. Overall, the book seems to be a collection of just some comments by a few trying to be amusing. Not in depth about anything in particular but perhaps meant to provide just little tidbits of information that can be found in brochures.
